Domestic EV charging policy
Updated 22 October 2026 · Version 2026-10-22-v5
Drive2Park currently supports peer-to-peer access to dedicated Type 2 EV charge points at private domestic driveways or garages. Three-pin household sockets, portable socket chargers, extension leads, unknown equipment, cables crossing public pavements and commercial or public charging sites are not accepted.
What the driver books
Charging is optional. Choose a charger-access period in half-hour steps, from arrival, up to 24 hours and within the parking stay. The host’s hourly access rate and the service fee are shown before payment. The charge reserves access for that period even if the vehicle finishes charging sooner; it is not billed by kWh. Do not select longer access than you need.
A charge point’s kW rating is its maximum capability, not a guarantee of charging speed or energy delivered. Vehicle limits, battery condition, load management and interruptions can affect charging. Check connector compatibility and the host’s cable and operating instructions. We do not remotely control chargers or stop charging automatically; drivers and hosts must follow the agreed end time. Parking extensions do not purchase extra charging access.
Host responsibilities before offering charging
- Use a dedicated Type 2 charge point professionally installed for EV charging, with the appropriate electrical protection and installation documentation. Follow manufacturer instructions and obtain competent electrical advice on its suitability for paid sharing.
- Keep the installation maintained, inspect it for damage and stop offering it whenever it is unsafe or unavailable. Never substitute a household socket or extension lead.
- Have the landowner’s and any other necessary permissions, confirm that your insurer covers paid driveway and charger sharing, and check your electricity supply contract and tariff permit the arrangement.
- Keep parking, charging equipment and cable routes entirely within safe private access. Provide clear instructions for activation, cables, safe operation, availability and the charging end time in the booking access notes.
- Set an access price that accounts for electricity at the applicable time-of-use tariff, the 12% host commission and maintenance. Do not promise a full battery, a particular energy quantity or a charging speed you cannot provide.
Host confirmations and listing approval are not electrical certification, an insurance policy or a guarantee by Drive2Park. Hosts remain responsible for keeping their service safe and accurately described. Report faults promptly and resolve affected bookings with support.
Domestic scope and commercial sites
Government guidance identifies domestic driveway peer-to-peer chargers separately from public charge points. That distinction is specific to the actual installation and use; a booking requirement or private ownership does not by itself exclude a commercial site. We do not onboard commercial or public charging under this domestic flow.
Public charging can require energy-based pricing disclosures and other operational controls. A separate assessment and suitable metering/payment arrangements would be needed before Drive2Park supports that model. We do not calculate an advertised p/kWh price by dividing an hourly rate by the equipment’s kW rating.

Charging problems and refunds
If equipment is damaged or unsafe, do not use it. Report unavailable or materially misdescribed charging through your booking or contact support with the booking reference. We will assess the appropriate refund or other remedy, including the charging portion and associated service fee where appropriate. Ordinary change-of-plan deadlines do not remove rights relating to a service that was not provided properly.
